Marcin Stokowski

Design Engineer

In a nutshell, what do you do?

I’m a Design Engineer, involved in product development, making improvements to existing products and maintaining a library of drawings.

What made you decide to do it at Vortok?

It was a great opportunity to do the job I’d just qualified for. It’s also a very friendly place to work.

What excites you most about your work?

Every day brings a new challenge.  You have to think about how you will design or modify something to suit the client.

Tell me about your biggest achievement before you joined Vortok?

Coming over from Poland and getting a job in what I was qualified to do.

What are the two most interesting projects you’ve worked on since you joined Vortok?

ETCS: designing the mount that holds the transponder on the track and designing different mounts for different fastening systems.

AWS modular signalling: assisting the Technical Director by creating a library of drawings for this product.

If you could solve one problem in the railway industry, what would it be?

To continue making the railways better, faster and safer.

How do you relax?

I relax with my family.  I also love mountain biking and am a member of a local cycling club.
